The Artwork Process

When creating a painting, I usually start with a number of photographs, sketching ideas, recreating an experience or feeling.  Once I choose a sketch, I will usually draw the image again with more detail and do some problem solving.  I'll check the composition and the anatomy, making any adjustments before I start to paint.

What is your favorite animal, do you have a pet, even a favorite location?  I have an extensive library of my own wildlife references to create an original piece of artwork just for you, but you might consider using your own photographs.  They might be perfect for that one of a kind portrait of your pet, for yourself or a gift.  Just e-mail me your photos and I will follow up with a few questions before we begin.  Think about the size and the medium (watercolour, acrylic, pastel or pencil) and I will provide you with an estimate.

I am happy to work from photographs you supply, provided they are your own photos or if you supply professional photographs (example sources: books, calendars, websites) they must be accompanied by a letter of release from the photographer allowing the rights to paint from their image.
